Current Project Activity (updated 26th February 2014)

Project type    Project    Background
Implementation

Pre-Population

The objective of this group is to support organisations implementing the recently published Origo Pre-Population Standards. Origo supports these organisations and where necessary will produce Best Practice Implementation Guidelines. For further information please contact us.

Development

Auto Enrolment Standards Development

Origo is collaborating with product providers, scheme administrators, HR payroll providers, automatic enrolment solution providers and other interested stakeholders to develop a suite of Automatic Enrolment Data Messaging Standards, in both XML and CSV data formats. A first phase of Standards was delivered in 2012, with a second delivery phase currently underway.  For further information please contact us.

Research

Adviser Not Present

The implementation of the RDR, the roll-out of Auto Enrolment and the prevalence of consumer internet access are just three factors currently driving an increasing appetite for the deployment of Origo Standards in contexts where an adviser is either not involved in the message exchange or not involved in the piece of business in question at all. Work is currently ongoing to extend the Origo Legal Framework to manage the risks and obligations inherent in these Auto Enrolment and B2B2C-type scenarios. This project will evaluate the Origo Standards to determine what is needed to support Adviser Not Present scenarios. The product scope of the Research activity is all product types and the process scope is all Origo Standards listed in the Origo Standards Catalogue. For further information please contact us.

Implementation

Auto Enrolment Implementation

Development

Contract Enquiry Multi Account Wrap

Origo currently supports a Contract Enquiry valuation message for Wrap accounts.  This allows valuation information to be requested and delivered for the assets and plans held in a single Wrap account.  This project will develop Standards required for CEMAW and produce all business, technical and supporting documentation required for publication of the Standards. For further information please contact us.

Research

Contract Enquiry Multi Contract

Origo Standards exist for multi-contract valuations of Bonds, Pensions (including SIPP and IDPR), Collectives, Endowments and Whole of Life.  The scope of this research project is to consider how single-contract and multi-contract solutions (for Valuations and Transaction History) are being used in the industry, look at where there are issues or gaps and see what can be improved.  The objectives of the project are to consider how single-contract and multi-contract solutions (for Valuations and Transaction History) are being used in the industry.  Origo will produce a Problem Definition Report containing the findings of this research.  For further information please contact us.

Research Evidence of Customer Agreement

This research is to look at alternatives to wet signature approaches to transacting business between Clients, Advisers and Product Providers within the Life and Pensions Industry, the wider Financial Services Industry and beyond. The process scope of the research activity will cover all processes where evidence of customer agreement to the terms of a transaction needs to be captured and retained. It will examine all known "non-wet signature" approaches to achieving this. This was last investigated in 2008 and the current research will gauge the Industries current willingness to support a move to non-wet signature approaches to obtaining evidence of customer agreement for certain key business transactions. For further information please contact us.

Research

Two Way New Business

When an Adviser submits new business on a Provider extranet the Adviser Back Office System requires details of the application as entered.  Origo Standards exist which prescribe the content of Pre-Population messages that can be used to process new business applications, and the process when an application is suspended and resumed.  There is however no Standard covering the return of the completed application by the Provider.  This project will produce a Problem Definition Report outlining the key issues being faced in this area, and identify Standards that may be required and the likely uptake.  For further information please contact us.

Development Legal Framework

The objective of this group is to deliver a Legal Framework (LF) Standard to support Auto Enrolment (AE) and B2B2C business models. The key objective of this project is to develop the LF Standard and supporting documents to meet the business requirements for AE and B2B2C business models. Origo is working closely with its community to ensure all requirements are met by the extended LF.  For further information please contact us.

Development

Contract Enquiry Wraps Transaction History

The Contract Enquiry Multi Contract Research project carried out by Origo and the Industry in late 2013 concluded that:

  • there is substantial demand within the Industry for Contract Enquiry Wraps Transaction History (CEWTH) Standards;
  • single and Multi Wraps Transaction History (TH) Standards are both required.

    The objectives of the CEWTH project are:-

  • to define the detailed business data and process requirements for Wraps TH Standards, including consideration of Data Protection issues;
  • to develop Standards required for Wraps TH;
  • to assess any additional security or legal considerations that emerge from these details requirements;
  • to produce all business, technical and supporting documentation required for publication of the Standards.
